Light and airy, completely furnished two-story beach house with 
views of the Gulf from either porch or balcony.  Enter the living 
room and go through the arched doorways to the large dining room 
which opens to the kitchen at the rear of the house.  Ceiling fans 
in both rooms.  The downstairs bathroom is accessible from either 
room.
   Upstairs there are three large bedrooms, each with ceiling fan 
and queen-size bed.  The front bedroom has a private entrance from 
the balcony; this bedroom and the eastern bedroom both have views of 
the Gulf while the southern bedroom overlooks the back garden and 
pool area.  Each bedroom has direct access to the bathroom.  The 
second-row location allows for more privacy (no beach "traffic" in 
your front yard) and calmer breezes.
   Owner-occupied for much of the year, clean and well maintained.

Progreso, 10 minutes away, has a new Bodega Aurrera (like a 
   Wallmart), a U.S.-style grocery store and a market area 
   with fresh fruits and vegetables and much more (currently in  
   temporary booths while the market is being rebuilt).
 Chicxulub Puerto, 3 km. away, has a small market and some great little stores.

Swimming, beach combing, shell collecting and bird watching 
can all be done from the beach in front of the house.  Five minutes' 
drive east takes you to a viewing tower for flamingos.  Water sports 
equipment is available for rent in the area; fishing trips can be ar-
ranged.  The minor Mayan ruin sites of X-Cambo and Dzibilchaltun
are within half-hour drives, and the impressive site of Uxmal is
about an hour and a half to the south.  A bi-lingual driver can be 
hired for day trips.  Progreso (10 minutes west) has any number
of restaurants and some tourist shops, while Chicxulub Puerto has
a limited number of each.  The beautiful colonial city of Merida with
its Cathedral, Governor's Palace, parks, museums and innumerable shops
and restaurants is about a 40-minute drive, with a golf course on the way.

discounts for long-term rentals.
