Casita de Piedras is a private house, located directly on the beach,
1.5 km from the fishing village of Celestun, on the Gulf Coast of
Mexico. Celestun is in a biosphere reserve and is home to a large
American Famingo colony plus 300 other species of birds. If you are
looking for a laid-back location to spend time with family or just
need time to unwind, then this is place to be. Celestun is the place
with great beaches, friendly people, a safe environment
and lots of fresh seafood. It is an easy 1 hour drive to the
Colonial City of Merida. Here you can enjoy the rich Mexican
Cultural Heritage.

Sun, Sun, Sun and more sun...that is what is enjoyed most here. The
beaches are great for those who like long walks or collecting the
many shells that are here. Take some time to check out the wild life
by taking a flamingo boat tour, or a canoe trip in the rain forest.
Fishing trips are also available.

For shopping, the central market has a wonderful selection of fresh
fruits and vegetables. The corner stores carry most of the basics
you need. For more shopping (such as Costco, Sams Club, or Wal
Mart), it is easily available in Merida. For those who do not wish to
make the trip into Merida, a shopping service is available

After you have spent your time relaxing and are ready for some
exploring, there are numerous sites that can be visited with just
day trips. Check out the site-seeing tours to the Maya ruins of
Uxmal, Chichen Itza and the Ruta Puuc. There are also sites of
interest including several restored Colonial Haciendas, Cenotes and
the Caves of Lotuum.
