La Manzanilla Vacation Rentals, Condos, Villas and Beach Rentals
La Manzanilla
is located on the central Pacific coast of Mexico, south of Puerto Vallarta. More specifically, it is situated at the south end of Bahia Tenacatita, a picturesque half-moon shaped bay that opens onto the Pacific, in the state of Jalisco. It’s a quaint little fishing village, home to approximately 500 residents who are mainly employed in the fishing industry. At one time, the village and surrounding lands were part of a large, privately owned hacienda. After the Mexican revolution, it was given to the locals to farm and raise cattle. Today, the area has become a popular beach destination for locals from the surrounding mountain villages, as well as tourists looking for a more adventurous vacation. Many species of fish and sea life can be found in the sheltered bay, and birdwatching, hiking, biking, beachcombing, snorkeling and wildlife observation are other popular activities in La Manzanilla. Right next to the village is a Federal Ecological Zone that harbors Egrets, Heron, King Fishers, Anhingas, alligators and more. Accommodations vary from hotels in the village to cabanas on the beach and villas in the surrounding foothills. Several family-owned restaurants and grocery stores are available in town, as well. La Manzanilla is home to an annual celebration in February called “Fiesta Del Toros la Manzanilla,” a four-day festival that celebrates the founding of the town.
