Melaque Vacation Rentals, Condos, Villas and Beach Rentals
Melaque
is a bustling community located two miles northwest of Barra de Navidad in the state of Jalisco along the Pacific Coast of Mexico. This area is actually made up of three beachfront villages; San Patricio, Villa Obregon and Melaque - all generally referred to as “Melaque.” The small village of Melaque is at the western end of Bahia de Navidad and has been a vacation retreat for Mexicans for generations. San Patricio is a half-mile strip in the middle of the three villages that contains a colorful town square and lots of retail shops. Villa Obregon is the easternmost of the villages and is much more residential in nature. The three together form the largest community along the coast between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo. A hiking trail extends along the coast, but there is no place to dock boats since the beach is not suitable for this and the lagoon doesn’t extend all the way to Melaque. Playa Melaque is the main beach in the area, and it is good for swimming but snorkeling is not recommended here. However, if you travel to the west end of town, a trail leads to a small but very nice snorkeling area. Nearby Barra de Navidad has more opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, surfing and boogie boarding.
