Monterrey Vacation Rentals, Condos, Villas and Beach Rentals

Monterrey is Mexico’s third largest city, and a unique mix of old and new. Founded in 1596 as a small trading outpost, today Monterrey is home to many of the country’s most wealthy businesspeople. It is also an important educational center, with four major universities and five small colleges. All of this has brought many cultural events, first-class hotels and five star restaurants to the city of Monterrey. An eclectic blend of attractions is found here. Across the street from an ancient, yellow cathedral is the new 100-acre “Macroplaza.” Also known as the Gran Plaza, it is home to several grand fountains, curio shops and museums. It is conveniently located within walking distance of many of the downtown hotels. Behind the plaza stands a modern, thirty-story lighthouse, with a laser beam that flashes nightly between 8 and 11. In Monterrey, you will find cobblestone streets, but also the country’s most sophisticated convention center, as well as a gigantic sports arena that is host to many international events. Monterrey has a number of top-quality shops, antiques, Mexican crafts and imported items. The Plaza de Hielo San Pedro is a popular ice-skating rink, and hiking and rock climbing tours are available to Canyon de la Huasteca and Matacanes.

Monterrey Weather & Climate

Mexico's Northeast  desert region, at the edge of the Sierra Madre Oriental Mountain Range, has an altitude of approximately 3,000 feet. Due to the altitude, the area’s weather is somewhat unstable with quick changes possible at any time – summer or winter. The evenings can get very chilly (or cold) in the winter, but daytime highs remain mild. Summers in Monterrey are usually very hot, with daytime highs sometimes climbing above the 100-degree mark. Afternoon rains come during the summer months, mainly late June to September. Normally the rain lasts for only a few hours after which the sun comes out and the air is much cleaner. November to June are generally the driest months.
