Puerto Nuevo
is famous for its’ many restaurants serving fresh, delicious lobster dinners. Located just a short drive south of San Diego, California, Puerto Nuevo was transformed from an unknown town into the famous “Lobster Village” it is today by the Plascencia family in 1952. They started the tradition with just one restaurant, and today more than 30 restaurants in town offer a great lobster feast, along with mariachi music and a fun, family atmosphere. Each meal usually includes lobster (small, medium or large,) rice, beans, tortillas, chips and salsa. The village also has shops and bars, and a short drive takes you to the town of Rosarito, where you will find many more shops offering everything from silver and leather goods to wrought iron and custom furniture. The nearby beaches of the area offer swimming, fishing, boating, surfing and scuba diving. Other outdoor activities include rock climbing, mountain biking, horseback riding and exploring historical and archeological sites. World-class golf is just a short drive from Puerto Nuevo, and Fox Studios, where Titanic and Zorro were filmed, is also located nearby, just south of Rosarito.
