San Sebastian Vacation Rentals, Condos, Villas and Beach Rentals
San Sebastian
is a 17th century, remote silver mining town located high in the Sierra Madre Mountains in the state of Jalisco. Just a short 15-minute flight from Puerto Vallarta, San Sebastian is one of Mexico’s “last great getaways” and has changed little in the past hundred years. With its undeveloped and unspoiled countryside, it stands in stark contrast to the resort cities below. By car, San Sebastian is approximately an hour and a half from Puerto Vallarta, but the narrow, winding, and unpaved roads makes the trip strenuous – even in dry months. Flying into the isolated settlement is your best option, and the scenic flight there is well worth the effort. You will gain a bird’s eye view of towering waterfalls, misty mountains, lush vegetation and rustic pueblos. San Sebastian is one of the oldest settlements in Mexico – dating back to 1605. It’s a beautiful village tucked away deep in a mountain valley, and is an outstanding example of traditional Mexico. A trip to San Sebastian is an experience you wont soon forget. At 4,500 feet elevation, surrounded by pine trees, corn and coffee plantations, the air is clean and crisp and the peaceful town is a joy to explore. One other note to make – the rainy season generally occurs from May to October, with winter being the driest months and May and June the warmest months.
