The community of Soliman Bay remains mostly undeveloped and is a tranquil alternative to nearby Playa del Carmen and Cancun. Private beach houses are tucked among the coconut palms that line the beautiful sandy beaches. The beach at Soliman Bay is narrow with dazzling white sand and few rocks - perfect for sunbathing and swimming. The calm bay has an outer reef that breaks the surf on windy days, making it excellent for snorkeling and kayaking. A short trail around the northern point of Soliman Bay leads to another bay where you’ll find a great beachside restaurant and a coconut grove for hammocks. Just south from Soliman Bay is Tankah Bay, which offers more snorkeling, kayaking and sailing opportunities. At Tankah Bay, look for the Manatee Cenote, a natural ribbon of emerald water that winds through the mangroves on its way to the ocean. This is another very good snorkeling spot and serves as a hunting ground for several species of migratory birds. Soliman Bay makes a convenient place to base a Riviera vacation – close to all the hot spots, but uncrowded, safe and quiet. |
