Troncones is a small, oceanside community that is located near the popular resort towns of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo. On the drive to Troncones, you will first pass through Zihuatanejo, an old fishing village that sits on a beautiful bay. Next, you will drive through the community of Ixtapa, a bustling resort town that was built in the 1970s. Travel on through scenic countryside and a few more small villages and you reach Troncones. The wide stretches of white sand beach in Troncones are great for swimming, shell collecting, boogie boarding and scuba diving. This is one of the most appealing of the Pacific Coast destinations, widely known for its excellent fishing and surfing spots. In fact, Troncones is home to a first class, state of the art surfing club. For shopping, visit nearby Ixtapa’s large Mexican handicrafts market, and Zihuatanejo’s colorful “municipal market.” Other activities in the area include exploring caves, biking, horseback riding, golf and tennis. There’s a wide variety of places to eat in and around Troncones, where you can dine on fresh seafood, Mexican and International dishes, while enjoying a breathtaking view of the ocean. Troncones Weather & Climate

The Pacific Coast, near the cities of Troncones, Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo has a hot and humid climate, year round. Set against the backdrop of the Sierra Madre Mountains, this region does not experience much variation in temperatures – just in rainfall. The most consistently balmy weather is found along the Pacific Coast. The monsoon rainy season runs May through October, and rains tend to be brief but fierce, and occur mostly in the late afternoon, leaving the evenings dry, cool and comfortable. September usually sees the highest levels of humidity and precipitation. Winters along Mexico’s Pacific Coast are generally pleasant, with the same warm days and mild nights of summer, but drier and with less humidity.
