Veracruz Vacation Rentals, Condos, Villas and Beach Rentals

Veracruz is a lively port city located along the northeast Gulf of Mexico. It is the first European city established on the North American mainland and the oldest port city in the Americas. Huge cargo ships, ocean liners and fishing vessels crowd the docks, and the paved walkway is always abuzz with sailors and tourists. Veracruz has a swashbuckling history, dominated by Spanish galleons, pirates and the slave trade. Today colorful Veracruz has a definite Caribbean flavor. You feel the energy of the city in its music, dance, multicultural population and broiling midday heat. Visitors come to sample the Mexican cuisine, as small marimba bands and lone guitarists stroll in and out of the restaurants and bars, providing free entertainment. Sights to see in town include the Museo de la Ciudad, a museum featuring displays and artifacts of the region, and the Acuario de Veracruz, the biggest and best aquarium in Latin America. Veracruz has beaches and resort hotels, although the principal activities are those of a port town. Come nightfall, bars and restaurants fill with merry drinkers and mariachi bands. Carnaval is celebrated in Veracruz with nine days of celebrations, and the Festival Internacional Afrocarlbeno takes place every July 11-21 and has a different theme each year.
